Offsite data storage risk assessment

The key to secure tape storage is not what you can control in your facility or how good your fire suppression and security systems are. The real risks are those that adjoin the offsite storage facility, especially where there are other tenants above the facility or where there is an adjoining building. These risks cannot be controlled by the offsite storage vendor, and are the real risks to customer’s tapes.

TMS is aware of these issues and has consciously mitigated these risks, by ensuring that our facilities are:

• Facilities are single tenanted by TMS only

• Free standing buildings

• We have reviewed who our adjoining building neighbours are

• Housed our own (office) staff above the vaults ensuring we have this critical factor in our control

• Our buildings do not have signage

• Building addresses are kept secret

• Non disclosure agreements are signed

• Buildings physical security and tape environmental conditons are above standard
